Doors officially open at LGM’s first office in the Gastown neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC, as part of a joint venture with AIG.
It doesn’t take long for us to expand. LGM sets up shop in Montréal, QC, as a second
We form relationships with Arctic Cat Canada and The Sovereign General Insurance Company, while AIG steps aside from the joint venture.
Carfinco signs on as a partner for automotive warranties on sub-prime financing.
We support our Canadian athletes
We introduce paintless dent
repair and windshield chip
repair coverage within our
product offerings and sponsor Special Olympics Canada for the third year running.
We say goodbye to Gastown, but we don't move far
Volkswagen Group Canada Inc. becomes LGM’s first auto original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner, and our headquarters move into the historic Marine Building near the Financial District in downtown Vancouver.
We sell our 100,000th contract.
Our network of selling dealers expands to 500 strong.
We join forces with the CUMIS Group for Loan Protection and introduce Financial Services Manager Rewards so dealers can see direct benefits from their sales performance.
For the first time, we set our sights beyond the auto industry and delve into the consumer appliance support and warranty business.
The 10-year mark doesn’t disappoint. LGM introduces an enterprise software system, the Digital Resource Centre, and we celebrate our decennial anniversary with a new company logo and third office location in Oakville, ON. We begin to work with Kia Canada Inc., and introduce our SecureDrive product suite into the Québec market.
Leaving the single-digit years behind
We’re recognized with two major industry accolades. PROFIT names us as one of Canada’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies and we make the list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” by Great Place to Work®.
Together with Kia Canada, we enter Targa Newfoundland, a rally race that spans 1,500+ kilometres. The team raises $100,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. We also launch our relationship with BMW Group Financial Services Canada.

team up to introduce the Wear Protection product to lease customers as a way to preserve
a vehicle’s appearance and new-car feel.
We welcome our 100th employee.
We hit 1,000 active dealerships and refocus our business model by discontinuing all products except those catered to the auto industry.
The rapid growth continues and we reach 150 employees.
We launch two notable products to market: Lease End Wear Waiver and the innovative Vehicle Loss Privilege Program. Our training team expands to offer facilities and programming in all three office locations.
The team just keeps growing and we welcome our 200th employee.

We launch our largest giving back campaign yet
Hundreds of dealers band together for LGM’s inaugural Auto Dealers Against Distracted Driving Campaign. We also join up with Hyundai Auto Canada Corp., and Aon Hewitt names us as one of Canada’s Best Employers. To cap off the year, we move our Vancouver headquarters into offices with award-winning interior design in MNP Tower.
A new platform that prepares us for tomorrow
We launch the biggest project of our history: the LGM HUB. Built in-house over the course of 2.5 years, this information software system was well worth the wait. With an innovative product configurator and dynamic pricing, this application offers a streamlined user experience and enables faster go-to-market capabilities and greater profitability.

As part of our social responsibility efforts, we achieve carbon neutrality as an organization and show commitment to alternative fuel technologies with our backing of Canada’s first retail hydrogen fuel station. We also log 6,700+ employee “giving back” hours.
After nearly two decades in business, we encroach on $1 billion in active retail premiums
Looking back is fun, but moving forward is even better!
It’s going to be another fantastic year. We project $40M+ in annual claims paid, $300M+ in retail premiums and more than 230 employees as part of the LGM family.
We’re making the move to OEM-like claims management as we transition to online claims and self-authorization for our dealer clients. We’re also exploring e-commerce market needs as we go full throttle into the digital space.

A FEW WORDS.
The past 20 years at LGM have been an incredible journey. Many great friendships have formed, we have carefully built our team, and the results have been simply spectacular. I could not be more proud of the way this business has evolved. We worked hard to not cut corners, to maintain our values each step of the way, and to ensure we deliver on our commitment to revolutionize the consumer ownership experience.
In the early years, the business was very different – with paper contracts, dot matrix printers, manual rate cards and the occasional missed remittance. Today, as we look to the future of the automotive industry, LGM will embrace the sharing economy, the application of autonomous driving vehicles, the disruption within retailing and the changes in how consumers wish to purchase/own their next vehicles. We will also accommodate the myriad of tech-rich features in the next generation of vehicles. The world is changing at a fast pace, but LGM is looking around corners to face these changes so we can support our OEM partners and selling dealers, and ultimately add real value to the consumer.
We owe a special thanks to all LGM stakeholders. Employees, contractors, valued suppliers, OEMs, dealers and consumers all participate in our ongoing success. As we celebrate our 20th birthday, we are abundantly appreciative of all of you and look forward to many decades of ongoing partnership and reward.
